Exhibits

Imaginations come alive at Port Discovery where purposeful play and learning connect. Kids ages 0-10 can climb the SkyClimber, learn about ocean life at the Bay Window, or build a city in the Port exhibit.

Art studios and science labs are also featured throughout the museum. Kids love interacting with the hands-on activities and making messy art here.

Kids will get to know Dorothy, the Scarecrow, and Tin Man on an interactive fantasy adventure through The Wizard of Oz Children’s Educational Exhibition. From Gale Farm in Kansas to Munchinkland, The Crossroads, and Emerald City. Kids can grate spices, explore Colonial America, and more in this interactive, educational exhibition.

Programs

In addition to exhibits and activities, Port Discovery has fun programs and events. Families can ring in 2023 with a Noontime New Year celebration or learn all about science, technology, engineering, and art during a STEAM Lab Workshop. Kids can also scavenge for ice cream in Little Sprouts Grocery or build a 1909 Wright Rib Wing.

Events

There’s just so much to do here that kids can come back again and again without getting bored. Besides the permanent exhibits, there are also special events throughout the year like making bubbles bigger than you in the giant bubble maker or spraying and squeegeeing windows in the mega wet area (don’t forget the rain slickers).

One of the major additions is the SkyClimber. This 4 story-netted climbing structure will thrill kids from toddlers to pre-teens.

Other new and updated exhibits include a pirate-themed play space, Tiny’s Diner, an art studio that can be messy, and even the Percussion Garden which always gets a lot of banging action from kids. A slew of neighborhood restaurants is nearby for a bite to eat after a day of exploring at Port Discovery.

Restaurant

Located in the historic Fish Market building in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, the Port Discovery Children’s Museum offers a fun and interactive learning experience for kids of all ages. The museum also hosts special events throughout the year, such as holiday celebrations and cultural festivals. The museum is open year-round, but it’s best to visit on weekdays and non-holiday weekends to avoid crowds.
