Ray Street Arts District

In the heart of North Park, you’ll find the Ray Street Arts District, a creative hub where you can browse local art, galleries, and studios. Many have compared it to SoHo, the arts district in New York City. The area is also known for the Ray at Night, a monthly art walk with over 30 local businesses and more than 1,500 attendees. However, things are not looking so bright these days.

The North Park Observatory is a former cinema, but reopened in recent years as an up-to-date venue for the area’s music scene. Artists have performed at this venue, which is home to a samurai cat and a skateboard donut. Other notable works include a tribute to American rock royalty by Travis Crosby, which was the inspiration for the “Rockin’ in the Park” mural.

The Ray Street Arts District is a popular destination for locals, and visitors from the surrounding area can enjoy a host of outdoor cafes. There are funky street art installations around every corner, and unique shops are lining each street. North Park has something for everyone: daytime cafes, daytime shopping, and nightlife bars. Caffe Calabria

One of the first modern spots in North Park, Caffe Calabria is my personal favorite in the neighborhood. It’s the ultimate jack-of-all-trades with an impressive coffee and liquor bar, a pizza oven, and even a coffee roasting set-up! The only thing I’d change about the place is the service. I’d highly recommend visiting if you’re in the neighborhood.

The menu features fresh coffee every day of the week, along with a few other Italian dishes. On the weekends, Caffe Calabria transforms into a cocktail bar and Italian eatery. The interior of the cafe is warm and inviting, and offers an ideal setting for a social night out. If you’re looking for something a little different, try the thin-crust pizza, which is made with imported Italian ingredients. The Cotto e Funghi pizza, for example, features organic San Marzano tomatoes, mushrooms, and mozzarella. The menu also includes a variety of pastries that have a variety of toppings. Caffe Calabria has been in business for six years, and is quickly becoming a neighborhood hub. It’s also a favorite with dog owners. There are many social events and gatherings held here, including tea tastings on the third Saturday of every month. Dog owners love the dog-friendly environment, and they can bring their furry friends as well! The cafe is dog-friendly, so bring your pooch for a walk!

Artelexia

The new Artelexia location in North Park is full of vibrant colors and contagious energy. This is partly due to the vibrant mural – “You are radiant!” – by artist Channin Fulton. A fun twist on the traditional “You Are the Sun” slogan is a new installation of works by local artists. You can also sign up for weekly art workshops to learn new skills or paint a mural of your own.

While the shop is not a trendy spot, it has a great selection of home decor and Mexican-inspired gifts. It’s also home to several art workshops and murals, which are sure to make you want to share your creations with family and friends. Open Monday through Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., the store also holds workshops and hosts various events throughout the year.

In addition to offering curated wares from Mexico, the store hosts neighborhood block parties and holds interactive events. You won’t even need a passport to visit this store! The store’s founder Elexia de La Parra started the store in 2008, inspired by her memories of strolling through markets in Mexico. Her passion for Mexican folk art inspired her to open the store, and her entrepreneurial spirit was reflected in the creation of her store.

Founded in 2008 by Elexia de la Parra, Artelexia sells unique Mexican imports and hosts tours to Mexico. The store also offers creative cultural workshops and community events. Its logo and design were recently refreshed, and the owner is collaborating with an artist to create mural campaigns throughout the neighborhood. In addition to the vibrant Mexican folk art and products, Artelexia also offers handmade goods and accessories that reflect the culture of Mexico.

Pigment

For the last few years, customers have been begging for a second Pigment store, and now they can get one! In Liberty Station, a shopping center near Moniker General and El Jardin, the Pigment shop is located near the Sellers Plaza entrance. Owners Amy Paul and Chad Anglin have turned their small store into a one-stop shop that sells locally produced goods along with products from globally recognized brands.

The newly renovated 3,000-square-foot event venue, which is now available for private rental, is a brightly lit space that is filled with handmade cards, gifts, and party decor. The store even has a section for “make-your-own terrariums,” where customers can choose from a variety of materials to build a terrarium. It also hosts events for kids, including toddler time, and is a great spot to meet other North Park residents.

Tribute Pizza

Wood-fired pizza is the specialty here, and the dining room is a stylish and modern setting. Modern furnishings complement the open kitchen. A wood-fired pizza oven produces a crisp crust and delicious taste. Customers can watch the pizza being made while seated at one of the tables, or order in the cozy bar. In the evening, the restaurant is often packed, and reservations are encouraged. For an evening out, a stop at Tribute Pizza may be the perfect way to celebrate the end of a long day.

Located in a former post office in North Park, Tribute Pizza serves supreme examples of every style of pizza, including calzones and New York-style pies. The menu includes combinations inspired by famous American pizzamakers. The restaurant opened its doors in the cavernous hall of the former North Park Post Office, and has quickly drawn crowds. The mission statement is simple: “Create the World’s Best Pizzas.”

The pop-up style concept was a hit with the local food scene, so the restaurant’s name is appropriately fitting. Founded by Matthew Lyons, Tribute Pizza is the first brick-and-mortar for the one-man operation. Previously, Lyons ran the MIHO food truck, which was a success but failed.
